HERVE
Yes, I began my professional career in the business finance sector many years ago. My main preference of photography is Landscape Photography (www.haute-definition.net) due to the fact I travelled around the world constantly.
UZURI
How did you first get into photography?
HERVE
My father was a great influence on me, as he was a good amateur portrait photographer.
I also had a burning desire to show the panoramic beauty of the countries I visited.
UZURI
Did your expertise come from studying photography?
HERVE
No, I am totally self-taught.
UZURI
Where do you find your inspiration?
HERVE
I read a lot of top fashion magazines and study other great photographers work.
UZURI
Who and what was the biggest influence on making you take up photography?

HERVE
I used to travel with my parents, especially to Italy visiting galleries and museums.
Being young it sometimes got boring, but now I realize it gave me great insight and has a great influence on my work. For this I thank my parents.
UZURI
What inspires your creativity, spiritually and emotionally?
HERVE
For me I find the Hollywood era of the 40’s & 50’s style glamorous but pure in its simplicity.
UZURI
What types of models inspire you?
HERVE
I don’t have a specific type of model as long as they don’t have big ego’s, as I left a well paid job that was stressful to become a young photographer with a drastic reduction in salary, so I don’t want the hassle of massaging models, makeup artists or hairdressers ego’s.
UZURI
When booking a model what do you look for?
HERVE
I would say her personality is the most important factor.
UZURI
No matter how beautiful a model is if her personality does not shine through it will translate into the photograph.
HERVE
As I said before, models with no ego, funny and who have a wide range of knowledge of the industry.
UZURI
What is your opinion of African models?
HERVE
I love working with them, I find them sensual.
UZURI
What do you think the most important component of taking a brilliant shot, the model, clothes or the location?
HERVE
It’s all of the components plus the MUA and Hairdressers.
UZURI
How do you decide on your locations and subjects?
HERVE
That is a very hard question; it’s like when you ask a photographer why he chooses to take a picture at a certain angle. It can be a photo in a magazine or a film.

UZURI
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
HERVE
I do not have a specific highlight in my career as I am never satisfied, and strive to make the next picture better than the last.
UZURI
What are your plans for the future, and have you any special projects?
HERVE
I have no specific plans at the moment, but would like to combine my fashion photography and my passion for travel to foreign countries and shooting all over the world.

UZURI
What is the one lasting impression you want to portray in your photographs?
HERVE
Perhaps a specialty of my work is the “ cadrage” so I want to leave an impression that the person sees the “cadrage” for the first time.
