Each designer has created a handbag, a unique piece, which will be auctioned by Clarice Pecori Giraldi, General Director of Christie’s Italy, on January the 27th, 7pm, at Palazzo Clerici, Sala Tiepolo, Milan.
All money raised will contribute to the funding of two development projects in Senegal and Sierra Leone.
The project "A future for young mothers of Ziguinchor", implemented in Senegal, provides for the setting up of cutting, sewing and fashion courses for women. The Ziguinchor area, in the South West of Senegal, has suffered from the effects of a civil war that has lasted 20 years, namely serious economic and social consequences. The project's goal is to empower local women and provide them with the right tools to build up their own future.

"D as a development: the future of Sierra Leone is a woman" is a project that aims at informing women about their land ownership and literacy rights. Although 70% of women works in agriculture, they still have no land rights. Therefore they are often forced to marry at a very young age, and they are condemned to illiteracy.

Bags4Africa is a charity auction that involves the most famous fashion designers representing “Made in Italy”.
