The collection stayed true to the brand’s ethos by flaunting a cast of pieces united by the theme of happiness, fun, and colour. Being the first outing of the brand, Adedoyin Babalola, Creative director of Kaffy Kreates leaned to exclusive adire prints featuring bold lines and dots to interprete the theme. And considering the collection champions colour, we indeed witnessed a spray of hues. From vibrant yellows to lush greens and dreamy blues, each colour did well to play up the designs and the women who wore them. Although Kaffy Kreates is synonymous with jumpsuits, its SS23 collection presented at the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria saw a deviation from the norm. Tiered-skirts, crop tops, and two-pieces came out to play while staying committed to evoking a sense of happiness reminiscent of the season. If ever there was a celebration of femininity and colour, this would certainly be it.

The Looks

The lineup featured bold tones and rich hues including a wine-coloured velvet jumpsuit with rich prints and black accents. Adire prints grace part of the number while velvet adorns the legs and sleeves. Emerald green steals the show in the form of a maxi tiered-skirt paired nicely with a bustier of the same fabric, and a green adire crop jacket with dotted prints and large buttons.

Also worthy of note was a yellow two-piece that features a maxi jacket and mini skirt. The inner lapel of the jacket sees the green adire print from above, adding an interesting play of colours to this set. A cobalt blue pant set that features stripe-print wide-leg pants and a long sleeve dotted-print crop top was yet another standout set from the memorable collection.
